The Nutrition concentration prepares current and aspiring public health professionals to assess scientific evidence for dietary guidelines and effectively communicate general nutritional information to the public.
The Registered Dietitian (MPH/RD) concentration integrates the scientific study of nutrition and dietetics with a foundation in public health practice and research. Students complete a dietetic internship with support from MPH@UNC’s internship placement services and fulfill the requirements needed to sit for the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) exam. Prerequisite courses for the MPH/RD concentration are chemistry; biochemistry; human nutrition; human anatomy; physiology; psychology; microbiology with a lab; and introduction to anthropology or sociology.
